New record comes amid increasing concern over virus resurgence.

The number of lab-confirmed coronavirus cases in England in a single day has reached the highest number in six weeks.

The latest number of positive cases for tests carried out on 29th July currently stands at 929. The last time single-day cases were this high was on 18th June, with 944 positive tests.

The new record comes amid increasing concerns of a resurgence in Covid-19 transmissions. The seven-daily rolling average of new cases in England has been rising for several weeks.
