Israel has had three indecisive elections since April 2019. The latest, which took place in March, resulted in a national coalition between Netanyahu’s Likud party and his political rival Benny Gantz’s Blue and White party.

As part of the coalition agreement, the Israeli government plans to annex swathes of the West Bank. The plans were meant to commence as early as 1st July but have so far been delayed in the face of international criticism.
