Tens of thousands of residents received £150 rebate twice.
Leeds City Council has said that 25,000 of its council taxpayers have received duplicate rebate payments. It means the council has paid out £3.75 million in duplicate payments.
The council said duplicate payments “will be recovered”. The error has been put down to a payment file being processed twice, after it was “initially rejected by the bank.”
