Sky Data poll also finds majority think country is in crisis

A poll by Sky Data has found that 54% of Brits think there should be an “immediate” general election when a new Prime Minister takes office.

Following Theresa May’s resignation, the Conservative Party hopes a new Prime Minister will be in place by the end of July.

The poll also found that a majority believe the country “is in crisis”.

The poll findings back up Jeremy Corbyn’s demand for a fresh election. The Labour leader said: “Whoever becomes the new Conservative Leader must let the people decide our country’s future, through an immediate General Election.”

Theresa May called a snap election in 2017, resulting in the loss of the Conservative Party’s 12-seat majority in the House of Commons.
