The app has been tested on the Isle of Wight.

The NHS app to trace who comes into contact with coronavirus-positive cases will start rolling out across England next week.

Coupled with an increase in testing capacity, the app is a key part of the government’s strategy for easing the lockdown. It has been tested on the Isle of Wight, where more than half the population has downloaded it.

The health secretary Matt Hancock will make a statement in Parliament on Monday to announced the plans.
