YouGov’s MRP model correctly predicted hung parliament in 2017.

The Tories are on course to secure a majority on 12 December, according to a new poll by YouGov.

The details come from YouGov’s first MRP poll of the 2019 general election campaign.

The seat-by-seat projection puts the Conservatives on 359, Labour on 211 and the Lib Dems on 13.

MRP stands for Multilevel Regression and Post-stratification. It is made up of around 100,000 respondents, compared with the typical 1,000 that comprise other polls, and aims to identify different types of voters.

The model correctly predicted that Theresa May’s Conservatives would lose their majority at the 2017 election. Other polls had the Conservatives winning a majority.
