Growth in services offsets further decline in manufacturing in Q4 2019.

The UK economy grew by 0.0% in the final quarter of 2019, according to the ONS.

Services output increased by 0.2% in Q4 (October to December) 2019. Production output fell by 0.7%, driven by declines in manufacturing, and mining and quarrying. Meanwhile, construction output decreased by 0.1%.

The chancellor Rishi Sunak will deliver the government’s budget today, as the Bank of England cut the interest rate from 0.75% to 0.2%.
