The Prime Minister pledged to tackle “burning injustices” on entering Number 10 in 2016

In her final two weeks as Prime Minister, Theresa May has announced plans for a new independent body aimed at highlighting injustices in society.

The Office for Tackling Injustices (OfTI) will gather data on disparities in areas including socio-economic background, ethnicity, gender, disability and sexual orientation. It will explore if specific groups of people are unfairly discriminated against or being held back.

The OfFI will not make policy recommendations. Instead, it will seek to present the government with a data-driven, evidence-based challenge to pursue reforms to tackle wide-ranging disparities in society.
