Sentence means Webbe faces recall ballot.

Claudia Webbe, the MP for Leicester East, has been sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. She must also complete 200 hours of community service.

The MP was found guilty of harassment, which included an acid attack threat. The court heard Webbe harassed a 59-year-old friend of her boyfriend, making a string of threatening phone calls between 1st September 2018 and 26th April 26 2020.

Webbe, elected in 2019, was suspended from the Labour Party after being charged.

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, ex-shadow chancellor John McDonnell and former shadow home secretary Diane Abbott were among those providing character witnesses for Webbe.
